DOH logs 9,465 new COVID cases, up 112%

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 9,465 new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines from May 1 to 7, marking a 112% increase compared to the previous week.

Nine deaths were also recorded, up from zero in the prior week.

Active critical or severe cases rose to 410, and ICU bed utilization increased to 16.5%, while non-ICU bed utilization rose to 21.2%.

The DOH noted that this surge comes after the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 pandemic no longer a global health emergency.
