DOH: COVID-19 still transmitted via droplets

The Department of Health (DOH) reiterated on Wednesday that coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is transmitted through respiratory droplets and close contact.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire clarified during a press briefing that while the World Health Organization is considering 'airborne precautions' for healthcare workers in certain hospital settings, this does not apply to general transmission.

Vergeire emphasized the importance of social distancing measures, as experts estimate 75,000 cases could be reached within three months without interventions.
