DOH evaluating PhilHealth transfer to Office of President

The Department of Health (DOH) is evaluating a proposal by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to transfer its administrative supervision from DOH to the Office of the President.

A joint technical working group composed of officials from both agencies was created to study the proposal thoroughly.

Acting health chief Maria Rosario Vergeire emphasized that no decision has been made yet and stressed that it is still a proposal.

Senator Risa Hontiveros expressed opposition to the proposal, stating that both DOH and PhilHealth must not relinquish their responsibilities regarding the national health insurance program.
