PH bans entry of travelers from India

The Philippines has imposed a temporary travel ban on travelers from India starting April 29 until May 14.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that even Filipino citizens returning from India will not be allowed entry during this period to prevent the spread of the 'double mutant' coronavirus variant B.1.617.

Two Filipinos in India have died and about 20 others are infected with COVID-19, according to Manila's ambassador to Delhi, Ramon S. Bagatsing Jr.

Passengers already in transit from India before April 29 will be required to undergo a 14-day facility-based quarantine despite having negative RT-PCR results.
