Business group urges IATF to ease lockdowns in main economic centers

The Federation of Philippine Industries (FPI) is urging the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to ease quarantine restrictions in main economic centers like Metro Manila and Calabarzon.

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez supports this call, emphasizing the need to balance public health with economic recovery.

FPI chairman Jesus Lim Arranza cited higher import volumes in June as evidence that easing lockdown measures can help sustain economic growth.

Metro Manila and parts of Calabarzon are currently under general community quarantine while other areas are under modified GCQ until July 31.
