DoE endorses 5 RE projects totalling over 500 MW for SIS
The Department of Energy (DoE) has endorsed five new renewable energy (RE) projects with a combined capacity of more than 500 megawatts (MW) for a system impact study (SIS) with the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines.
These studies will assess whether the grid can accommodate these new connections adequately, as part of efforts to increase renewable energy capacity in the country.
Among the projects are JBD Water Power's 200-MW Abra-Kalinga Wind Power Project, Freya Renewables' 160-MW E.B. Magalona Wind Power Project, and Amihan Power's 80-MW Presentacion 3 Wind Power Project.
Additionally, PAVI Green Camsur Renewable Energy's 50.104-MWp solar project in Camarines Sur and Energy Development Corp.'s 30-MW geothermal project in Sorsogon are also included.
This year, the DoE has issued a total of 40 SIS endorsements, with 32 certificates of endorsement (CoEs) granted so far, as part of efforts to reach an ambitious target of at least 35 percent renewable energy share by 2030.
