Diouf named UAAP MVP despite Game 2 struggles

University of the Philippines (UP) center Malick Diouf was named MVP of the UAAP men's basketball tournament on Wednesday night.

Diouf received the award before Game 2 of the championship series against Ateneo, where he struggled due to foul trouble and scored only two points.

Despite his performance issues in the game, Diouf emphasized that winning the MVP did not affect him and thanked his teammates for their support.

Diouf led the MVP race with a total of 73.9 statistical points, narrowly beating Ateneo's Forthsky Padrigao who had 71.6 SPs.

Joining Diouf in the Mythical Five are Carl Tamayo (UP), Dave Ildefonso (Ateneo), and Luis Villegas (UE).
