DILG launches upgraded national emergency response system in 34 cities by August
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced on Wednesday that an upgraded national emergency response system will be rolled out across 34 cities by August.
Remulla stated during his tour at the PNP Command Center in Camp Crame that the new system will integrate local government units' (LGUs) emergency hotlines and CCTV feeds into a centralized DILG command center, providing faster and more reliable access to life-saving assistance.
Among the languages supported are Ilocano, Kapampangan, Tagalog, Bicolano, Waray, Bisaya, and Tausug, with call center agents speaking local dialects based on callers' locations.
To enhance law enforcement mobility, Remulla committed to providing over 1,000 motorcycles and vehicles for quicker emergency response.
The project was bidded out last July 6 for PHP1.41 billion to local IT company ePLDT, with the DILG currently conducting post-qualification.
Remulla assured the public that existing emergency hotlines could still be used as dispatch centers if needed.
