Marcos admin credits couple's will for Pasig River revival

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) attributes the successful transformation of Pasig River to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos's strong political will.

Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, chairperson of the Inter-Agency Council for the Pasig River Urban Development (IAC-PRUD), highlighted the couple's relentless support in implementing the Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli (PBBM) Project.

Acuzar called on Filipinos to maintain the river's renewed beauty and cleanliness, emphasizing everyone's role in restoring its vibrancy.

President Marcos issued Executive Order 35 establishing IAC-PRUD to revitalize Pasig River through functional urban redevelopment.

The showcase area of the PBBM Project is now open to the public, covering a 1.1 km stretch from Manila Central Post Office to Fort Santiago.

Phase 3 of the project was inaugurated on February 27, connecting Plaza Mexico to Maestranza esplanade and providing an additional 2,000 square meters of public space.

Acuzar underscored the importance of creating inclusive spaces where rich and poor are equal.
