DFA studying potential impacts of OFW deployment ban in Kuwait

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is studying the potential impacts of imposing a deployment ban on Filipino workers in Kuwait.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo stated that while the proposal is under consideration, no decision has been made yet and they are still awaiting the results of an investigation into the death of OFW Jenny Alvarado.

Manalo emphasized that the DFA is closely examining the issue with the Department of Migrant Workers, considering both worker protection and diplomatic relations with Kuwait.

Senator Raffy Tulfo, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Migrant Workers, called for a deployment ban following the deaths of several Filipino domestic workers in Kuwait.

Tulfo urged the government to coordinate with Kuwaiti officials before imposing any new requirements or restrictions for hiring Filipinos.
