Filipina seafarer dies by suicide while awaiting repatriation

A 28-year-old Filipina seafarer, Mariah Jocson, died by suicide while awaiting repatriation on a cruise ship docked in Barbados.

Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr announced the death and noted that repatriation flights have been suspended due to the pandemic.

This is the second reported suicide among overseas Filipino workers since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.
