DFA downgrades travel alert for Philippines in Iran to Level 2

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has downgraded its travel alert for Filipinos in Iran to Level 2 or Restriction Phase due to positive developments in the security situation, effective immediately.

Last month, Manila had enforced Alert Level 3 and suspended deployment of workers and unnecessary travel amid missile attacks between Iran and Israel.

Despite the downgrade, the Philippine Embassy in Tehran will continue facilitating voluntary repatriation for Filipinos who wish to return home.

The DFA emphasized that it will closely monitor the region's situation and update alert levels as necessary.

Tensions escalated when Israel began attacking Iran on June 13 over alleged nuclear weapon development, leading to retaliatory missile strikes by Iran and US airstrikes on key Iranian facilities.
