DFA: 5 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad; total now 18,223

As of Friday, April 23, the total number of Filipinos abroad infected with COVID-19 increased to 18,223 with five new cases.

Two additional fatalities were recorded, raising the death toll to 1,124, while recoveries remained at 11,181.

Active cases currently stand at 5,918. The Middle East and Africa region has the highest number of cases (10,436) with 732 deaths and 5,879 recoveries.

Asia Pacific follows with 3,449 cases including 26 fatalities and 2,394 recoveries.

Europe reports 3,341 infections, with 130 deaths and 2,294 recoveries. The Americas have recorded 945 cases with 234 deaths and 614 recoveries.
