DepEd launches summer programs for academic recovery

On Monday, April 21, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced four nationwide summer programs aimed at supporting students' academic recovery and addressing learning gaps.

The initiatives include the 'Bawat Bata Makababasa Program' (BBMP), Literacy Remediation Program (LRP), Summer Academic Remedial Program, and Learning Camp (LC).

DepEd will pilot the BBMP in Zamboanga Peninsula from May 8 to June 6, targeting around 75,000 struggling readers with daily reading tutorials.

The LRP aims to provide intensive literacy support to over 59,000 Grade 3 learners categorized as Low Emerging Readers across all regions except Zamboanga Peninsula.

Additionally, the Summer Academic Remedial Program will be open to Grades 4 to 12 learners needing extra help in specific subjects from May 13 to June 6.

DepEd's Learning Camps will be piloted in selected schools in MATATAG Pilot Regions to promote a learner-centered approach with smaller class sizes and personalized support.
