DepEd investigates CRANS principal for threatening students over togas

The Department of Education (DepEd) has initiated an investigation into CRANS Principal II Venus Divinia Nietes for ordering graduating Senior High School students to remove their togas during a graduation ceremony in Antique on April 15.

A viral video shows Nietes threatening students that they will not receive their diplomas if they do not comply with the school's instructions, which she claimed only allowed wearing school uniforms and sablay.

DepEd clarified there is no ban on wearing togas during graduation ceremonies;

guidelines encourage simplicity but do not prohibit optional supplementary garments like togas to promote inclusivity and ease financial burden on families.
