DENR cancels Blue Star deal, orders Masungi out

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has cancelled its 2002 agreement with Blue Star Corp. over legal deficiencies, ordering Masungi Georeserve Foundation to vacate Lot 10 within 15 days.

Assistant Secretary Norlito Eneran cited a lack of required Presidential Proclamation and absence of proof that construction went through regular procurement process as reasons for the cancellation.

Masungi Georeserve Foundation disputes the decision, asserting it protects forests and warns against potential commercial interests entering the protected area.

Senators Nancy Binay and other lawmakers question DENR's plan to manage Masungi effectively without adequate personnel or resources.
