PNP clarifies recall of Dela Rosa's security detail

Reelectionist Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa announced Tuesday that the Philippine National Police (PNP) had denied recalling his security detail upon returning to Davao City on March 24.

However, PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Jean Fajardo clarified Wednesday that two of Dela Rosa's security officers were recalled in January pursuant to Comelec Resolution No. 11067 and not recently as claimed by the senator.

Fajardo noted that four protective security personnel are still assigned to Dela Rosa, approved by the Commission on Elections (ComeLEC) until June 11, 2025.

Senate President Francis Escudero said Wednesday that the Senate is ready to augment Dela Rosa's security detail should he request it due to personal threats.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte's arrest complicates the situation for Dela Rosa, who considers himself a key figure in ongoing investigations related to Duterte’s drug war and has hinted at possibly hiding if a warrant of arrest is issued against him by the ICC.
