Senators Bato Dela Rosa, Bong Go deny 'reward system'; PNP chief calls for clarity

Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa said he is 'totally fine' with clarifying his role in the Duterte administration's war on drugs.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Rommel Marbil called for predecessors to clarify their involvement, citing that the PNP has been at the receiving end of criticism and will ensure accountability within their ranks.

Former PNP chief Guillermo Eleazar said he did not receive any orders regarding a reward system for killing drug suspects as claimed by retired police colonel Royina Garma.

Garma alleged that Duterte asked her to implement the Davao model of the war on drugs, rewarding officers up to PHP 1 million for killings.

Senator Christopher 'Bong' Go denied involvement in any 'reward system,' stating Garma's claims were unsubstantiated.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) authorized an inquiry into Duterte's drug war in January 2023 and rejected the government's appeal against it in July 2023.
