Dela Rosa plans 'tokhang'-style campaign for elections

Reelectionist Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa announced on Tuesday that he plans to use a 'tokhang'-style campaign for the May 2025 midterm elections.

Dela Rosa, who implemented the Duterte government's controversial anti-drug campaign, said this approach involves door-to-door visits and knocking on residents' doors to ask for their votes.

He explained that if people open their doors with a smile, he will ask them to vote for him; however, if they are frowning, he will leave politely.

Dela Rosa acknowledged that those who dislike the 'tokhang' method of his previous anti-drug campaign are unlikely to support him in this election.

The term 'tokhang' refers to house-to-house visits and door-knocking used during Duterte's drug war, which remains a contentious issue.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to attend Dela Rosa's proclamation rally for the senatorial race on Thursday at Club Filipino in San Juan.
