DBM releases PHP1.625B for QRFs to DSWD and DPWH due to Habagat

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released PHP1.625 billion to replenish Quick Response Funds (QRFs) for the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) amid the impact of the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, and a series of storms hitting the country.

PHP625 million was allocated to DSWD for Family Food Packs and non-food items, expected to assist 510,745 families affected by disasters.

An additional PHP1 billion has been given to DPWH for its second QRF replenishment, covering reconstruction and rehabilitation programs in areas stricken by calamities.

Budget Secretary Mina Pangandaman emphasized the importance of timely funding for agencies responding to emergencies, noting that complete documents are processed immediately under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive.

As of Friday morning, 25 people were reported dead from weather-related incidents, with eight individuals still missing; 3.84 million people or 1.06 million families have been affected by heavy rains and flooding.

According to the latest figures from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, a total of 4,679,046 people or 1,295,808 families across all regions except Eastern Visayas have been impacted by bad weather.
