DBM prepares PHP4.3T 2021 budget for economic recovery

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is preparing a PHP4.3 trillion national budget for 2021, focusing on economic recovery and job creation in response to the pandemic.

The proposed budget, which is slightly higher than this year's PHP4.1 trillion, prioritizes labor-intensive projects to provide income opportunities for vulnerable sectors and those who lost their jobs due to the crisis.

DBM Secretary Wendel Avisado said the technical review of budget proposals from government agencies is ongoing, with an executive review scheduled for the first week of July.

If unable to submit the proposed budget by the legal deadline on July 27, it will be submitted in the second week of August.
