DBM OKs PHP396.4M for PNP to buy 402 vehicles, incl. patrol jeeps & EOD units

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved PHP396.374 million for the Philippine National Police (PNP) to purchase around 402 units of motor vehicles.

Approved on September 10, this funding will cover various types of vehicles including patrol jeeps, personnel carriers, light transport vehicles, vans, motorcycles, and EOD vehicles.

DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman stated that the initiative supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s commitment to enhancing police capabilities.

The budget is chargeable against the PNP's Specific Budget under the 2024 General Appropriations Act.

Pangandaman emphasized that a well-equipped police force contributes to public safety, and ultimately benefits the Filipino people.

Meanwhile, the DBM has fully transmitted requested funds to the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) for the establishment and maintenance of treatment and rehabilitation facilities nationwide.
