The city and provincial governments of Davao are taking measures to prepare for an increase in coronavirus cases, including establishing additional quarantine centers and isolation rooms for patients under investigation (PUIs).

The city government of Davao is planning to establish two additional facilities for patients under investigation (PUI) due to an increase in cases amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Davao Oriental has recorded two new confirmed cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of cases in the province to at least three. The two patients are currently stable and under isolation at Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City.

In order to decongest hospitals, five quarantine centers for PUIs have been prepared by the city government of Davao. These include Malagos Rehab Center, La Vida Inn located in Maa, Alternative Learning School (ALS) beside People’s Park, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Queensland Hotel.

Davao del Norte has built 45 isolation rooms for PUIs with mild symptoms to decongest the emergency facilities at Davao Regional Medical Center. The province also plans to use schools as housing for hard-headed persons under monitoring who break quarantine protocols.
