Vice Pres Sara Duterte supporters hold rally in Davao

Supporters of Vice President Sara Duterte gathered at Rizal Park in Davao City on Saturday evening for a candle lighting and prayer rally attended by about 1,000 people.

The event was organized to express support for the Office of the Vice President and featured performances from local bands as well as videos depicting the situation in Davao during former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.'s dictatorship.

An ecumenical prayer led by religious leaders from indigenous, Christian, and Muslim communities focused on the condition of Vice President Sara Duterte and her chief of staff, Atty. Zuleika Lopez, who was transferred to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City following a contempt citation.

Local officials criticized the current administration's actions in Congress, describing them as oppressive towards the Dutertes, while Davao City councilors were present but Vice President Duterte and her supporters did not attend due to scheduling conflicts.
