Davao airport runway rehab completed ahead of schedule

The Davao International Airport's runway rehabilitation project was completed ahead of schedule on May 7, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

While most work is finished, some minor rectifications are still needed and will be carried out during daytime when there are no flights.

CAAP plans to lift the notice to airmen for this project by Thursday, May 9, or once all remaining issues are resolved, which is ahead of the original target date of May 31.

The runway had been closed from midnight to 4 a.m. since April 8, with closure times reduced to minimize operational disruption.

The project involved removing damaged asphalt pavement, applying an emulsified asphalt tack coat, laying hot bituminous mixture, and repainting runway markings.
