7 PH areas to hit heat index of 42°C-51°C on Friday

Seven areas across the Philippines may experience a heat index ranging from 42°C to 51°C on Friday, March 28, according to PAGASA.

Dagupan City, Pangasinan, is expected to reach the highest heat index of 46°C, while General Santos City, South Cotabato; Aparri, Cagayan; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Cubi Pt. Subic Bay, Olongapo City, Zambales; Sangley Pt., Cavite City, Cavite; and Cuyo, Palawan are also forecasted to experience dangerous heat levels.

PAGASA officially declared the end of the northeast monsoon season ('amihan') on Wednesday, marking the start of the warm and dry season across the country.

The agency expects similar conditions to continue with a heat index in some areas reaching up to 46°C in Dagupan City and 42°C in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, Aparri, Cubi Pt., Sangley Pt., and Cuyo.

PAGASA advises taking precautions against heat-related illnesses such as cramps, exhaustion, and an increased risk of heat stroke with continued activity during these conditions.
