DA releases PHP3-B interventions for 'Odette'-hit farmers

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has released PHP3 billion worth of agricultural interventions to aid farmers and fisherfolk affected by Typhoon Odette.

Of the total amount, PHP1 billion came from DA’s Quick Response Fund for rehabilitation in Regions 6, 7, 8, 13, and 4-B which were directly hit by the typhoon.

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation has set aside PHP828 million as potential payout to around 79,217 insured farmers and fishers affected by Odette.

DA’s final tally shows that Typhoon Odette caused P13.3 billion worth of agricultural damage across 462,766 hectares with 273,062 metric tons of production lost.
