DA cuts rice price to PHP43 per kilo at Kadiwa stores

The Department of Agriculture (DA) announced that the price of well-milled rice sold through its Kadiwa stores will decrease to PHP43 per kilo starting Friday, October 11.

This adjustment follows a decline in retail market prices and aligns with the DA's Rice-for-All program, which initially offered rice at P45 per kilo.

An additional 20 Kadiwa outlets are set to open this week, expanding the total number of sites to 41, with plans to reach 169 by year-end.

DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. assured consumers of sufficient stock until early next year and urged them not to abuse the program.

The DA also expanded its P29 program for aging but good quality rice stocks from the National Food Authority (NFA), available in 41 Kadiwa sites, with plans to increase the number of outlets nationwide.
