DA expands KNP sites to offer affordable rice options

Consumers can now access more affordable rice options at Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) centers and kiosks as part of the Department of Agriculture's initiative.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. announced plans to expand KNP sites across Metro Manila by the end of February, aiming for 180 markets in collaboration with national government agencies and local government units.

The four rice options available are Rice for All 5 (RFA 5) at PHP45 per kg., RFA 25 at PHP40 per kg., Sulit rice (RFA 100) at PHP36 per kg., and P29 rice sold to vulnerable sectors.

Supplies will come from Food Terminals, Inc. (FTI), with the DA meeting with Metro Manila mayors to ensure timely expansion of KNP sites.

Tiu Laurel and Trade Secretary Cristina Roque conducted a public taste test for Sulit rice, noting its quality is acceptable despite being 100 percent broken rice.
