DA chief Laurel divests business interests

Newly appointed Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. has addressed concerns about potential conflicts of interest by divesting himself of his business interests.

Laurel, who was previously the president of Frabelle Fishing Corporation and held leadership positions in several other companies, assured the public that he is fully committed to his government role.

Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Garafil confirmed Laurel's divestment, aligning with Administrative Order No. 1, series of 1992, which requires Cabinet members to avoid conflicts of interest.
