Dar assures sufficient food supply amid lockdown

Agriculture Secretary William Dar assured consumers that the extended lockdown would not affect food supplies.

Dar reported that current inventories of basic food items are sufficient for several months: rice (94 days), corn (234 days), fish (two days), vegetables (six days), and chicken (253 days). Pork supply is adequate until mid-November.

The challenge lies in repositioning these commodities to areas with the highest demand, particularly moving pork from Visayas and Mindanao to Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon.
