DA assures stable fertilizer supply despite Israel-Iran conflict

The Department of Agriculture (DA) assured a stable supply of fertilizer for the agriculture sector despite the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said that the country has sufficient stocks of fertilizers until the end of the year, which may prevent spikes in local prices.

The DA also identified alternative sources such as Russia and Brunei Darussalam to ensure a steady supply if needed.

Secretary Laurel assured no exponential spike in agricultural commodity prices is expected, although there will be an anticipated increase due to rising petroleum costs.

Despite concerns over potential disruptions in Gulf shipping, the Philippines has enough supplies and alternatives to maintain stability in the fertilizer market.
