Creamline edges ZUS Coffee 4-3 in thriller

Creamline narrowly avoided an upset by ZUS Coffee and secured a 25-22, 28-30, 26-24, 17-25, 15-13 victory in their final match of the year at the PhilSports Arena on Thursday, December 12.

Despite leading twice and suffering an 8-point loss in Set 4, Creamline struggled to clinch a four-set win and faced a significant deficit midway through the fifth set before regrouping.

Captain Alyssa Valdez praised her team's mental toughness and resilience in the final moments of the match, noting that it was 'anybody’s ball game' in the decisive set. She also commended ZUS Coffee for their competitive spirit and grit throughout the game.

Bernadeth Pons and Valdez each scored 17 points for Creamline, while Jema Galanza contributed 15 points; their advantage in kills (72-66) offset their unforced errors (33).

Kate Santiago led ZUS Coffee with 19 points, followed by Thea Gagate’s 15, as the Thunderbelles slipped to a 2-3 record but showed significant improvement.

The victory kept Creamline undefeated at 4-0, tying them with Cignal HD for first place in the league standings as they head into 2025.
