Court dismisses Chinese national Guo as Bamban mayor

Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 34 dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo from her post on Friday, June 27.

Judge Liwliwa S. Hidalgo-Bucu ruled that Alice Leal Guo is actually Chinese national Guo Hua Ping and declared her appointment and mayoral term void based on fingerprint evidence showing identical ridge characteristics.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) welcomed the court's decision, affirming its findings based on immigration records and biometrics identifying Guo as a Chinese citizen named Guo Hua Ping.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated that this ruling strengthens the deportation case against Guo and highlights the dangers of foreign infiltration in national security.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) signed an MOA with BI to provide a P50-million grant for faster deportation of illegal foreign POGO workers, including those connected to Guo's case.

This development underscores the government's efforts to protect borders and institutions from such threats.
