Converge beats NorthPort 111-92; penalties for Meralco incident

Converge defeated NorthPort with a score of 111-92 in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup on Friday at PhilSports Arena.

Alec Stockton led Converge with a season-high 33 points, including five three-pointers, and added three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

The game took a backseat to commissioner Willie Marcial's announcement of penalties for the previous night's incident involving Meralco's Cliff Hodge and Magnolia's Zavier Lucero.

Marcial levied a one-game ban and a P100,000 fine on Hodge while issuing stern warnings about future incidents. Assistant coach Mon Jose received a one-game ban and a P20,000 fine for allegedly headbutting Hodge at the scorers' table.

The league's deputy commissioner Eric Castro and technical head Bong Pascual were also suspended for failing to properly penalize Hodge during the game.
