Comelec resumes BSKE voter reg from Aug 1-10

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced it will resume voter registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) from August 1 to August 10, 2025.

Initially planned for July but suspended due to a bicameral conference committee report proposing to extend barangay officials' terms and postpone elections until November 2026, the registration was approved by Comelec's seven-member panel.

Comelec Chief George Erwin Garcia expects around one million registrants during this period despite the uncertainty of whether President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will sign the postponement bill.

The 'register anywhere, anytime' program in Metro Manila remains in place to ensure convenience and accessibility for voter registration.

Registrants whose registrations were deactivated can use this period to reactivate their status, while those who missed the initial May 12 deadline can also register now.
