Comelec removes 4.2M names, adds over 2.5M new voters

As of Friday, Unang Balita reported that approximately 4.2 million names have been removed from the Commission on Elections' (Comelec) official voter list.

The majority of those delisted were from Region IV-A (Calabarzon), with reasons including failure to vote in two consecutive regular elections, court orders, loss of Filipino citizenship, and invalid documents.

On May 5, 2024, Comelec announced that over 2.5 million new voters had registered for the 2025 national and local elections, approaching their target of three million new registrants.

Comelec chairman George Garcia said delisted voters can apply to have their registrations reactivated at voter registration sites nationwide starting May 18, 2024.

The nationwide voter registration period will conclude on September 30, 2024.
