Comelec moves COC filing for national positions to Sofitel tent

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for national positions scheduled from October 1 to 8 will take place at a tent in Sofitel hotel in Pasay City, not Comelec's Intramuros office.

This decision was made due to health protocols amid the pandemic and to avoid crowded conditions.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez stated that the venue change is necessary to prevent COC filing from becoming a 'crowded circus'.

The Sofitel tent will have proper ventilation and space for candidates seeking national posts, including president, vice president, senators, and party-list representatives.
