Comelec conducts mock polls in 30 barangays for AES prep

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) conducted mock polls in 30 barangays across the country on Saturday, January 25, as part of preparations for the automated election system (AES) ahead of the May 2025 elections.

Actual registered voters participated in these simulations from 7 to 10 a.m., providing an end-to-end voting process simulation as required by Republic Act 9369.

COMELEC Commissioner Ernesto Maceda Jr. observed and inspected the mock elections at Makati High School, one of several locations where the tests were held simultaneously across the country.

Qualified individuals can still apply for Local Absentee Voting (LAV) from April 28 to May 3, allowing government officials, military personnel, police officers, and media members temporarily assigned to perform election duties or cover elections to vote ahead of Election Day; applications must be submitted by March 7, 2025.

Voters like Maria Lourdes Rementilla found the process easy and expressed satisfaction with the voting system's facilitation.
