Comelec extends overseas pre-enrollment deadline to Election Day

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) extended the deadline for overseas Filipinos to pre-enroll in the internet voting system until Election Day, Monday, May 12, at noon.

Initially set to end on Wednesday, May 7, and then extended to Friday, May 10, Comelec's Office for Overseas Voting requested this latest extension due to low enrollment numbers.

As of Tuesday, May 6, only around 200,000 voters had pre-enrolled out of a larger expected turnout.

Online overseas voting began on April 13 and is being implemented for the first time in this election cycle.

Migrant groups have expressed concerns about insufficient information campaigns regarding the new system, while some voters have reported technical issues such as not receiving voter receipts after casting their ballots.
