Comelec dismisses Tulfo family poll case

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) dismissed a poll disqualification case against Senate candidates Ben and Erwin Tulfo, Rep. Jocelyn Tulfo, Quezon City 2nd District Rep. Ralph Wendel Tulfo, and Turismo party-list first nominee Wanda Tulfo-Teo on Tuesday.

In a six-page decision, the Comelec First Division ruled that Atty. Virgilio Garcia's petition was insufficient in form due to missing copies of respondents' certificates of candidacy required for verification.

The dismissal came after Garcia failed to properly serve the petition and provide all necessary documents as mandated by Comelec Resolution No. 11046, leading to a summary dismissal of the case.

Legal experts noted that without an enabling law, the constitutional provision against political dynasties remains unenforceable.
