Stand-up comedian Gold Dagal shot dead in Angeles City

Stand-up comedian Gold Dagal, known for controversial jokes about the Iglesia ni Cristo and social commentary on human rights violations, was shot dead in Angeles City, Pampanga over the weekend.

Dagal's mother Jocelyn Cruz confirmed that her son received threats from individuals offended by his dark humor before the fatal shooting.

According to a police report, Dagal was sitting inside a beer house when three male suspects approached and shot him several times before fleeing. He died nine hours after being admitted to the hospital following multiple cardiac arrests.

Cruz believes that those who were offended by her son's jokes were responsible for his death, highlighting the risks faced by critics of religious institutions in the Philippines.

She called out 'unthinkers' behind the killing and shared photos of Dagal's wake on social media, emphasizing the impact of dark humor on sensitive topics.
