Kristine prompts class, work suspensions in PH

Severe Tropical Storm Kristine has prompted the suspension of classes and government work in various parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao through Friday, October 25.

Classes have been suspended across all levels in public and private schools and government offices throughout Luzon, including Ilocos Sur, La Union, Batangas, Albay, Cagayan, Camarines Sur, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, San Fernando, Pampanga, San Juan City, Las Piñas City, Marikina City, Manila City, Quezon City, Taguig City, Valenzuela City, Mandaluyong City, Pasig City, Navotas City, Pasay City, Pateros, Muntinlupa City, Caloocan City, Parañaque City, Nueva Ecija, Mulanay, Quezon, Benguet, Santiago City, Isabela, Aurora, Pangasinan, Cainta, Rizal, Cauayan City, Isabela, San Manuel, Isabela, and Echague, Isabela.

Signal Number 1 is hoisted in several areas across Luzon, Visayas, and parts of Mindanao due to the approaching storm, which is forecasted to make landfall in Isabela or northern Aurora on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning with maximum wind speeds of 75 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 90 kilometers per hour.

Additional areas including Barbaza and Sapian in Antique, Dao in Capiz (face-to-face classes only), and Talisay in Negros Occidental have also suspended classes as a precautionary measure.

Signal No. 3 is currently hoisted over northern Luzon, Signal No. 2 is raised over Cagayan Valley region, parts of central Luzon, and Cordillera Administrative Region, while Signal Number 1 remains active for other affected areas in the Visayas.
