CIDG seizes P29M smuggled cigarettes in Zamboanga

The Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized smuggled cigarettes worth nearly P29 million in Zamboanga City during a two-day operation from November 27 to November 28.

Operation 'Mega Shopper' led to the confiscation of 506 cases of assorted cigarette brands without internal revenue stamps at a facility in Barangay Patalon, Zamboanga City.

The operation was conducted following an order from the Bureau of Internal Revenue and involved collaboration with other law enforcement agencies.

CIDG Acting Director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III stated that the group remains committed to enforcing anti-criminality campaigns and combating illegal activities.

The seized cigarettes were valued at P28,993,800 and included various brands.
