PNP requests DOJ to include Teves in murder case over Degamo killing

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has requested the Department of Justice (DOJ) to include former Negros Oriental governor Pryde Henry Teves and nine others in multiple murder cases involving his brother Arnolfo Jr., related to the alleged killing of former governor Roel Degamo on March 4, 2023.

Brigadier General Nicholas Torre, head of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), submitted additional documents to the DOJ on Monday, February 17, seeking a case review by state prosecutors under Department Circular 20 (DC 20).

Torre disclosed that new evidence has been uncovered suggesting a conspiracy involving explosives and firearms but declined further details pending evaluation.

Arnolfo Jr., who is currently out of the country in Timor-Leste awaiting an appeal on his extradition, faces charges in relation to these murders.

Teves remains eligible to run for governor of Negros Oriental province in the May 2025 elections despite the CIDG's complaint, according to Torre.
