CIDG arrests ex-SWAT cop, 3 others for jail escape, weapons possession

On Sunday, April 13, operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a former elite cop who was leading prisoners at Bulacan Provincial Jail along with three others.

The main subject, Abdua, formerly part of the SWAT team, had been enjoying special privileges such as leaving the facility without court orders since his detention for murder.

CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III revealed that Abdua and another inmate named Mario were allegedly allowed to leave and return to the jail with assistance from a guard and an accomplice.

During the operation, CIDG operatives intercepted the suspects in Malolos City near Sarah's house, where they seized firearms including a caliber 45 pistol, Glock 17 9mm pistol, magazines, rounds of live ammunition, and a red Toyota-Hi-Lux pick-up.

Torre emphasized that this arrest dismantled a dangerous group involved in illegal activities and disregarded judicial authority by facilitating unauthorized escapes.

An investigation is underway to identify any individuals behind the special treatment provided to Abdua and Mario.
