Chinese navy near PH-US Balikatan exercises

On April 25, Chinese naval forces including an aircraft carrier were spotted near Ilocos Norte province during PH-US Balikatan military exercises.

The Philippine Navy reported the Shandong-class aircraft carrier and six escort ships conducting flight deck operations approximately 123 nautical miles off the coast.

Meanwhile, Philippine forces held air defense drills in Zambales using advanced weapons systems.

Despite Chinese naval presence, Philippine-US joint maritime activities continued uninterrupted with over 14,000 troops from 20 nations participating until May 9.
