Chinese fugitive Bao Long charged with murder after shooting another national

Suspect Wang Dan Yu, also known as Bao Long, is a Chinese fugitive wanted for crimes including murder, carnapping, and kidnapping.

On October 17, 2024, Bao Long allegedly shot another Chinese national at a restaurant in Makati and was charged with murder shortly after.

The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission has identified Wang Dan Yu as the leader of a kidnapping syndicate involved with Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) and confirmed his involvement in multiple kidnappings of foreign nationals over the years.

Bao Long is on the Bureau of Immigration's watchlist and has a hold departure order due to involvement in multiple crimes, including kidnapping.

The 14-year-old kidnap victim was found stable after surgery and will undergo counseling with their mother as recommended by Anti-Crime Advocate Teresita Ang-See.

The victim's parents had been negotiating with the kidnappers on WeChat without paying a ransom of $20 million, and police credit this negotiation for the safe release of the teenager.
