CHED: Six PH universities rank globally, up from five last year

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) reported an increase in globally-ranked Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) under the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

CHED Chairperson J. Prospero de Vera III highlighted that six Philippine HEIs are now among the world's best universities, up from five last year, reflecting progress in global rankings and internationalization efforts.

Ateneo de Manila University leads with a ranking of 1001-1200 and an overall score of 30.7 to 34.4, followed by the University of the Philippines at 1201-1500.

Fifteen more Philippine HEIs were listed as 'reporters' for submitting data but not ranking, marking a significant increase from previous years with an overall 67.3 percent rise in ranked institutions.

De Vera pledged continued efforts to advance internationalization among Philippine HEIs in line with President Marcos Jr.'s directives.
