Cessna crashes in Pangasinan, killing two pilots

A two-seater Cessna plane crashed near Barangay Libsong East in Lingayen, Pangasinan at approximately 8 a.m. on Sunday morning, resulting in the deaths of both the pilot and a student pilot.

According to Police Lt. Col. Amor Mio Somine, chief of police in Lingayen, the plane had just completed its tenth landing attempt before taking off again and crashing shortly after.

The victims were transported to Lingayen District Hospital but were declared dead on arrival; their identities have yet to be released pending notification of the families.

Police received initial information that 'Mayday, Mayday' was called twice before the crash, which is the last communication recorded from the pilot.

Local first responders and aviation experts are investigating the incident with assistance from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), which has grounded Pilipinas Space Aviation Academy Inc. pending investigation results.
